Intermountain Health and CareCentra reported that AI-driven remote monitoring for COPD and asthma reduced hospitalizations, emergency visits, and total costs in a two-year study. The program combined connected devices, patient-reported symptoms, and predictive analytics to identify deterioration early and trigger coaching or escalation before crises developed. The study also showed that AI helped one respiratory navigator support far more patients, increasing monitoring capacity from about 30 to nearly 220 patients per navigator. Intermountain Health is now considering scaling the technology across its wider hospital and clinic network.
