Android: Google simplifies secure transfer of passkeys and passwords

Google is rolling out a new Android feature through Play system services that lets users securely import and export passwords and passkeys between Google Password Manager and third-party password managers. The feature uses the FIDO Alliance’s Credential Exchange protocol, which removes the need to move credentials through insecure CSV or JSON files. Android now supports end-to-end encrypted transfer of passkeys and can also handle other authentication data such as traditional passwords. Google is also updating the Play Store with clearer pricing and discount information, redesigned purchase dialogs, and a simpler preregistration flow. The update should reach supported Android devices over the next days or weeks.
