EX-11: Prepping for Plasma’s Last X11-Supported Release
Summary
KDE is removing the Plasma X11 session in its upcoming Plasma 6.8 release and will focus development entirely on Wayland. The change will eliminate X11-specific code paths in Plasma Shell, System Settings, and device configuration while keeping XWayland support for legacy applications. Plasma 6.7 will be the last release that still includes an X11 session. KDE says Wayland adoption is already high among current users and asks anyone still blocked by Wayland issues to share feedback before the transition lands. This shift should simplify maintenance and enable performance improvements and new features across Plasma.
