Environment body NCIS launches scheme to reward service providers stopping farmers from burning paddy stubble

The Nature Conservancy India Solutions has launched a Pay for Results program to reward service providers that help farmers stop burning paddy stubble. The project promotes direct seeding of rice, in-situ residue management, and other regenerative farming practices across Punjab and Haryana. NCIS says its digital monitoring tool helps verify field activity and has already supported measurable revenue gains for service providers. The group is also exploring biochar, carbon credits, and expansion of the model into Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
