Story Protocol governance passed SIP-00011 to reduce the active validator set from 80 to 21; the change is live on the Aeneid testnet and will activate on mainnet at the upgrade height. The Foundation made the change to lower consensus message volume—CometBFT scales quadratically with validator count—improving performance and reducing overhead. Atlas Staking did not rank among the top 21 by stake, will move to inactive status, and warns delegators to redelegate to an active validator if they want to keep earning rewards. Atlas will continue running its node during redelegations, remain engaged in governance and educational work, and publish guides and ecosystem updates despite losing active-validator status.
