Remove a page break in Word

General News

Summary

Word uses two types of page breaks: automatic breaks added as text flows and manual page breaks you insert. You can delete only manual page breaks (use Home > Show/Hide, select the break and press Delete or Backspace). You cannot remove automatic page breaks but can control where they occur by adjusting paragraph settings in the Paragraph dialog on the Line and Page Breaks tab—use Widow/Orphan control, Keep with next, Keep lines together, or Page break before. The same guidance applies in Word for the web when in Editing View; automatic breaks remain controlled by paragraph settings rather than direct deletion.
