Dr-Julian helps deliver mental health support for Black and ethnically minoritised mothers

Dr-Julian partnered with The Essential Baby Company to run a digital perinatal mental health pilot targeting Black and ethnically minoritised mothers and delivered results well above NHS benchmarks. Every participant started therapy, 90% completed treatment, and 74% recovered compared with an NHS recovery benchmark near 52%. Community referrals accessed support in about one day on average (versus around 21 days in many standard services), and even regular referrals cut waits to roughly 13 days. The model combined culturally informed support, trusted community routes, and Dr-Julian’s online therapy and virtual care systems, and stakeholders are exploring expansion through training, regional partnerships, and future funding.
