Harmonic Leads $3.5M Series B Funding Round for Encoding.com

Funding Rounds

Summary

Cloud-based video encoding company Encoding.com has closed a Series B round of funding, and this time the lead investor is Harmonic, Inc. Encoding.com raised $3.5 million in this round, which it will use to boost its engineering and sales teams. Encoding.coms president, Jeff Malkin, sees the partnership as a perfect fit: "Harmonic, the leader in video delivery infrastructure, recognizes the rapid migration towards cloud-enabled video services and has chosen Encoding.com, the leader in cloud-based video services, to accelerate its product evolution. Earlier this year, Encoding.com deployed Harmonic ProMedia Carbon through its online platform, offering unlimited cloud capacity to existing Harmonic customers. “As the market increasingly embraces the cloud, we look forward to working closely with Encoding.com to offer our customers the most compelling solutions to meet the rapid changes within the video ecosystem,” says Patrick Harshman, Harmonics CEO. Encoding.com announced a $1.25 million Series A funding round in February 2010.
