Students turn to tech to improve life on campus
Summary
The Red Bull Basement Global Workshop brought university students together to design and showcase tech projects aimed at improving campus life. Teams from many countries presented apps and prototypes, with Austria’s Sophie Bolzer and Erfan Ebrahimnia winning for Audvice, an app that lets students and lecturers create and share audio study playlists to boost retention. Other showcased projects included Energybrid’s piezoelectric floor system to generate power from foot traffic, Bond’s workout group-finding app, First Fridays for learning and showcasing creative skills, and Smarttle’s RFID-linked refillable water bottles. The event combined masterclasses, mentoring and networking to help students develop and publicize their campus-focused software solutions.
