Jones Lang LaSalle acquires ECD, original developer of green globes

Jones Lang LaSalle acquired ECD Energy and Environment Canada, the original developer of the Green Globes environmental assessment and web-based rating systems for commercial properties. JLL framed the purchase as part of its strategy to expand sustainable real estate services, complementing its earlier acquisition of Upstream in the U.K. The Green Building Initiative will retain U.S. licensing and distribution rights for Green Globes modules, while BOMA Canada keeps rights for the existing-buildings module and will market it as Go Green Plus. Green Globes evolved from BREEAM Canada and has been refined as a web-based tool under GBI, which has pursued ANSI standardization for the system.
