TELUS and Government of Canada advance work to scale Canada's sovereign AI infrastructure Français

TELUS and the Government of Canada are advancing a proposed Sovereign AI Factory cluster in British Columbia, expanding TELUS's sovereign AI infrastructure across three world-class facilities. The cluster will scale to more than 60,000 high-performance GPUs and over 150 MW of capacity by 2032, with staged openings in Kamloops (this year), Vancouver's M3 (end of 2026 through 2028) and 150 West Georgia (2029); the Rimouski facility is already sold out. TELUS plans to run the facilities on 98% renewable energy, use closed-loop liquid cooling and heat-recovery systems to cut energy and water use and supply district heating, and project about $9 billion in economic value and hundreds of skilled jobs. TELUS will operate the infrastructure on Canadian soil for data sovereignty, leverage NVIDIA accelerated computing as an NVIDIA Cloud Partner, and position the cluster to support large-scale AI model training and deployment for Canadian organizations.
