Fidelity first to implement Visa's new tap-based verification tech
Summary
Fidelity Bank (Bahamas) became the first institution to deploy Visa’s new Tap to Confirm and Tap to Activate tap-based identity verification, in partnership with fintech Keyno and Visa’s regional operations. Cardholders can now authenticate or activate cards by tapping their Visa cards to their mobile devices inside Fidelity’s app, replacing one-time passwords, SMS codes, and call-centre verifications. The system leverages EMV chip cryptograms, Visa Chip Authenticate, and VTEX APIs via VisaNet to validate card data in real time and reduce fraud exposure. Visa and Keyno say the technology aims to transform payment cards into secure identity credentials and Visa plans to expand the solution globally through 2026.
