Hostelworld acquires HostelBookers

Web Reservations International (operator of Hostelworld.com and Hostels.com) has agreed to acquire HostelBookers.com in an all-paper deal subject to regulatory clearance. WRI delivers online reservations to over 35,000 venues in 180 countries and expects the combined business to expand its technology, distribution and marketing reach. CEO Feargal Mooney said the acquisition supports ambitions to accelerate growth and compete directly with large OTAs like Expedia and Booking.com while maintaining a budget-focused, personal service.
