European AI Funding Is Growing. Will That Boost The Region’s Startup Scene?

Roughly half of European venture funding in 2026 to date has gone to AI-related companies, driving a notable uptick in regional startup funding. Several new frontier model labs (Recursive Superintelligence, Ineffable Intelligence, Advanced Machine Intelligence) and established firms like Mistral and Aleph Alpha have raised large rounds or merged, collectively attracting billions. Europe is spawning AI-native startups across dev tools, infrastructure, robotics and other sectors, benefiting from strong engineering talent and lean early teams.
