Fitness wearable Whoop to offer on-demand clinician access to U.S. users
Summary
Whoop will add in-app access to on-demand licensed clinicians for U.S. users and roll out a suite of AI-driven health features globally that link continuous biometric data to real-time medical guidance. Many of the new capabilities are included in membership, while live video consultations in the U.S. will incur an additional fee with pricing due this summer. The update also includes a partnership with HealthEx so users can store diagnoses, medications and procedures in the Whoop app and receive AI-personalized coaching and reminders. Whoop says it has over 2.5 million users and recently closed a $575 million funding round valuing the company at $10.1 billion; the launch comes after an FDA warning last year about its Blood Pressure Insights feature and new guidance that loosens restrictions on optical BP claims for wellness devices.
