Back up and restore with Windows Backup
Summary
Windows Backup is a built-in, one-stop backup solution for consumer Windows PCs that saves files, themes, settings, installed apps, and Wi‑Fi information to your personal Microsoft account and OneDrive. You can choose which user folders and Windows preferences to sync, manage backups from the Settings app or Start menu, and must sign in with a personal Microsoft account (work or school accounts are not supported). If OneDrive shows errors, check that you are signed in and have sufficient storage; personalization settings require available OneDrive space. To restore, sign into the same Microsoft account on a new or reinstalled PC and choose the backup you want to restore. Microsoft also notes that Windows 10 support ends on October 14, 2025, and recommends moving to Windows 11.
