Leica Biosystems Launches Aperio GT Elite Scanner, Aperio iQC Software

Leica Biosystems launched the Aperio GT Elite scanner in the US along with Aperio iQC software that adds AI-powered quality control and rescan functionality. The scanner targets high-throughput research workflows, scanning up to 103 slides per hour and as fast as 22 seconds per slide while reducing manual handling through barcode-driven automation. Aperio iQC detects whole-slide imaging artifacts during scanning, delivering 69% faster QC review in tests and identifying 24% more artifacts than manual review, which can lower per-slide QC costs and reduce rework. Leica positions the integrated solution to fit into computational pathology ecosystems and is hosting a webinar on April 24, 2026 to provide more details.
