OMB Launches GSA-Led Acquisition QSMO
Summary
The Office of Management and Budget launched a new Acquisition Quality Service Management Office (QSMO) led by the General Services Administration to manage and consolidate acquisition systems across federal civilian agencies. The office will focus on reducing and standardizing nearly 230 acquisition systems into a smaller, more accessible set of shared services. The QSMO model, established in 2019, centralizes mission-support functions and already includes QSMOs for cybersecurity, grants, human resources, and financial management. Agencies and technology providers including integrators and enterprise software vendors partner with QSMOs to modernize mission-support systems, as illustrated by Treasury adding Guidehouse and SAP to its Financial Management QSMO.
