CABEI Issues First Healthcare Bond to Finance High-Impact Health Projects in the Region

Tegucigalpa, Honduras, september 25, 2025.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) successfully priced its first Healthcare Bond in the international capital markets, for a total amount of US$70 million with a 15-year maturity.The bond was issued to an Asian investor under CABEIs highly rated Sustainable Bond Framework (SQS2 by Moodys), with the support of Barclays Bank PLC; reaffirming the Banks strong reputation among global investors who take ESG criteria into account when making their investments, particularly in Asia, a region that represents 21% of the Banks historical funding in the capital markets.This is CABEIs thirty-third (33rd) ESG bond issuance, highlighting its leadership and innovation in sustainable capital markets and its position as one of the multilaterals with the highest number of ESG placements. It also demonstrates the Institutions ability to diversify its funding sources while mobilizing resources to advance the regions sustainable development agenda.The proceeds of this bond will be allocated to projects under the category Access to Essential Services Development of Healthcare Systems of CABEIs Sustainable Bond Framework. This includes the construction, operation, improvement, and equipping of hospitals and healthcare institutions that serve vulnerable communities. Among the initiatives to be financed are the Critical Care Tower of the National Childrens Hospital in Costa Rica and the Support Program for the Hospital Network in Honduras, among others, which will significantly expand medical and hospital care for children and families in vulnerable situations.CABEIs Executive President, Gisela S\xe1nchez, stated: We are proud to issue CABEIs first Healthcare Bond, a milestone that reflects our commitment to innovation in sustainable finance and our mission to generate visible social impact in the region.
