EIB provides EUR 120 mln to Ukrgasbank to support business and energy independence of communities

▤ Summary

The European Investment Bank will provide EUR 120 million in loans to Ukrgasbank through a multi-component financing package. The bank will direct EUR 50 million toward energy independence projects for Ukrainian municipalities, including district heating upgrades, decentralized heat generation, renewable energy integration, and public-building efficiency improvements. It will allocate another EUR 70 million to support the sustainability and green growth of small and medium-sized businesses. An EU portfolio guarantee will expand Ukrgasbank’s lending capacity and help it raise additional private-sector capital during wartime. The package was announced at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome as one of the conference’s early major outcomes.
