Writing Marketplace Scripted.com Gains An Extra $150K, Two New Advisors

Scripted.com, a marketplace for freelance writers, has secured another $150,000 in seed funding on top of the $700,000 it raised back in late November 2011. The new seed financing round was led by former Redpoint Ventures Executive-in-Residence David Wu. Additionally, Scripted.com has brought two new advisors on board: former LinkedIn chief scientist DJ Patil and 99designs co-founder Matt Mickiewicz. Scripted.com says its freelance writer network now gives access to more than 80,000 scribes, enabling them to sell – of course – “high-quality” content (think blog posts, video scripts, white papers and even Facebook and Twitter messages) to businesses at a flat rate. Founded in 2011, the startup says it is currently adding 50 new freelance writers on a daily basis, and that it has 500 paying customers.
