VendScreen founder leaves his Portland startup after dispute with investors
Summary
"Generally speaking, we had a new group of investors that just came on recently and they had a little bit of a different vision for the company than what I had in mind," said Paresh Patel, who had been VendScreens chief executive. Its not uncommon for investors and founders to part ways over a companys direction, but its relatively rare in Portlands chummy startup scene. VendScreens device, which runs on the Android mobile operating system, affixes to vending machines to accept payments, display ads and manage inventory. VendScreen hopes its digital technology will help it capitalizing on a pending federal requirement that vending machines display nutritional information for their products. He declined to discuss it in detail, other than to say he wants to tie vending machines into the mobile and social tech ecosystem.
