Capwatt’s Biogas Breakthrough in Aljustrel

Capwatt secured 12.5 million in green financing to build Portugal’s first biometane production facility in Aljustrel. The project will convert agro-industrial waste into renewable gas and inject it into the existing gas grid. Capwatt expects the plant to produce 57 GWh of renewable gas annually and reduce carbon emissions by about 23,000 tonnes of CO2 each year. The facility also supports circular economy goals, rural development, and new revenue streams for agricultural and industrial partners.
