Finnish company grabs €6.7M to expand automated compounding of medications

CurifyLabs, a Helsinki-based healthtech company focused on pharmaceutical compounding, has secured 6.7 million in funding to advance its automated solution for preparing personalized medications. Alongside the funding, CurifyLabs announced its leadership role in RoboPharma, a 5.6 million EU-funded initiative to develop a decentralized, AI- and robotics-based pharmaceutical manufacturing system intended to strengthen medication supply resilience across Europe.Custom-prepared drugs, also known as compounded medications, are critical when commercially available options are not suitable for the individual patient due to dosage requirements, potential allergies, dosage form limitations or drug shortages. An integrated, cloud-based formulation library guides the pharmacist through a validated compounding process, and quality control tools ensure mass uniformity and remove the risk of human errors.In addition to the funding round, CurifyLabs has announced the launch of RoboPharma, a EUR 5.6 million EU-funded initiative aiming to create an AI and robotics-driven, decentralized pharmaceutical manufacturing platform. CurifyLabs is set to lead the initiative, which includes six partners across Europe.Funded through the EU4Health program, the project addresses one of the most pressing challenges in European healthcare: the fragility and inflexibility of centralized pharmaceutical supply chains during crises such as pandemics, natural disasters, and global disruptions. The mission is to develop and deploy a scalable pharmaceutical production platform for hospital and community pharmacies.To date, CurifyLabs has raised EUR 17.6 million and has local offices in Finland, the United States, and Germany.
