Wercker Raises $4.5M Series A Round For Its Container-Centric Automation Platform

Using the service’s command line interface, developers can spin up Docker containers on their desktop, automate their build and deploy processes and then deploy them to various cloud platforms, ranging from Heroku to AWS and Rackspace. Wercker also today announced that it is open sourcing its command line interface “to empower the developer community to create workflows that attain better dev-prod parity and allow for rapid iteration.” Wercker’s Series A round was led by Inkef Capital, with participation from existing investor Notion Capital. This round brings the company’s total funding to $7.5 million to date. This also marks the first time Inkef Capital, one of the largest VC fund in the Netherlands with about €200 million under management, has invested in a developer tool. “We’re excited to join the Inkef Capital portfolio and continue to bridge the gap between the innovative communities in Amsterdam and Silicon Valley,” said Micha Hernández van Leuffen, founder and CEO at Wercker in today’s announcement.
