ABHI selects 21 UK healthtech companies for US accelerator

The Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) has announced the eighth cohort of its flagship US accelerator programme, which will see 21 UK digital health companies given access to the US healthcare market.The eighth cohort of ABHIs accelerator programme have the opportunity to scale their business in the US using ABHIs network of hospital systems, life science communities and mentors.The companies will take part in four trade missions to key life sciences states in the US and be given access to Dell Medical School facilities in Austin, Texas.Ruben Rathnasingham, assistant dean for health product innovation at Dell Medical School, said: We are proud of our longstanding partnership with ABHI and their extensive network in the US.Together, we aim to identify and support promising UK-based innovations that improve health outcomes and empower communities.By working with this new cohort, we look forward to fostering meaningful collaborations that enable these companies to thrive within Austins dynamic life sciences ecosystem and expand their impact across the country.According to ABHI, its US Accelerator has generated more than $150 million (\xa3117m) in business for participating companies to date and has also promoted inward investment, bringing more than 15 US-based companies to the UK to engage with NHS hospitals.Paul Benton, managing director, international at ABHI, said: Over the past eight years, our US Accelerator has helped over 150 UK healthtech companies to successfully enter and expand in the US market.Im looking forward to the next 20 companies benefiting from our trade missions and partnerships with 70 healthcare systems and thousands of hospitals in the US.What really makes our accelerator stand out is our team of US mentors and learning programmes that help companies refine and validate their market strategies and ensure they are ready to have the right conversations.That is what helps our cohorts of companies develop true international collaborations that deliver tangible impact.Meanwhile, at Digital Health Rewired on 19 March 2025, the NHS Innovation Accelerator launched its 2025 programme, consisting of 28 health and social care innovators who will take part in a three-year programme aimed at tackling key NHS challenges.
