Mover Secures $1 Million In Seed Funding To Expand Its Data Migration And Backup Service

Funding Rounds

Summary

Mover, an Edmonton, Canada-based startup that makes it easier for businesses and individuals to migrate their data between cloud storage providers, today announced that it has raised a $1 million seed round. The round includes a number of well-known U.S. and Canadian investors, including Double M Partners, Yaletown Venture Partners, Amplify, Medra Capital, and angel investors Jarl Mohn, Rick Barry of Quant Ventures, and Dennis Phelps. As Eric Warnke, Mover’s CEO and co-founder, told me today, the new funding “will be used to immediately bring on sales and marketing staff. This funding will also allow us to expand our partnerships and cover a broader base of services.” Mover, which was previously known as Backup Box, supports all of the major cloud storage services, including Dropbox, Google Drive, SkyDrive, SugarSync, Box and Amazon’s S3. It even lets you transfer MySQL databases or your website (over FTP) in order to back them up to your favorite cloud storage service.
