Imiron, a National Institute of Informatics Startup, Raises 60 Million Yen in Seed Funding
Summary
Imiron, a provider of logic-based safeguard and logical explanation technologies, announced on the 23rd that it has raised 60 million yen in seed funding from Abelia Capital.Founded in August 2024 by Professor Ichiro Hasuo, who led the ERATO Hasuo Meta-mathematics for Systems Design Project at the National Institute of Informatics (NII), and his colleagues, Imiron develops technologies to enhance the safety and reliability of autonomous driving and generative AI systems. The company was established based on the results of verification support from the Japan Science and Technology Agencys (JST) START university startup program.Specifically, Imiron develops technologies that express and automatically verify system behaviors through formal specifications, building on world-class research achievements in theoretical computer science.Their services include automating and streamlining product specification quality assurance (V&V, verification and validation) through logical formal descriptions, providing safety arguments for advanced autonomous systems like self-driving cars based on mathematical proofs, and analyzing logical risks through big data processing that combines logical and statistical techniques.Imiron aims to provide an engineering platform for developing safe and reliable mission-critical systems. The newly raised funds will be used for research and development, hiring talent, and service expansion.
