Summary
I read this piece of news carefully as well as the interview from Jessica Long on Timothy Mottes newsletter site. Timothys post starts with "African startups are struggling to raise funds", then some lines further "The companys product isnt novel: it enables small retailers (..) to order inventory directly from their phones. Any fund with an investment thesis focused on SMBs is, in my opinion, going down the right path for now because thats where we need to organize and evolve first, so our basis are covered before we strive for big capital-demanding innovations. She goes on to say "In Senegal, the focus is on solving real, pressing issues to drive economic development, especially in logistics" comparing her local startup scene to Silicon Valley. Once weve tackled basic challenges and built a strong liquid and active financing system that helps address these issues, we will be in a good shape to confidently look for the biggest future innovation for the world.
