BusinessObjects Now and Then

While I miss some of the nostalgia and adventure of climbing over rocks and crawling through tunnels in tombs in the dark, I am excited that I can see and do so much more than I could 35 years ago. Thirty years ago, people were using BusinessObjects to quickly create operational reports with drag and drop actions. The power of the semantic layer allowed them to use simple business terms and automatically generate the SQL so non-programmers could create their own reports. Since then, the product has gone on to take advantage of improved visualization and analysis capabilities so you can develop full blown Business Intelligence dashboards and allow users to manipulate data in new ways. Just like my annual trips to Egypt, there is always something new and exciting to discover and IBIS 2025 promises to have plenty of great first-time content with the new release of BI 2025.
