Premier LogiTech snags global Motorola brand license for cable modems, Wi-Fi gear

General News

Summary

DOCSIS modems and gateways, Wi-Fi products, and other devices will continue to carry the Motorola brand under the stewardship of Premier LogiTech. It comes together several months after the demise of Minim, a debt-ridden company that previously held a license to build and sell a portfolio of products under the Motorola brand. President and CEO Scott Paul said the new agreement will include minimal royalty payments over a period of five-plus years and stressed that the terms are "extremely reasonable in our mind." Moving forward, Premier LogiTech will take over the development, distribution and ongoing support, care, and overall lifecycle management of the Motorola-branded product line. Premier LogiTech has yet to say if the MotoSync brand will continue or if it will use a new product name for the software management platform that is being developed in-house and currently undergoing testing.
