Summary

Terracon bridges the gap by working alongside DOTs across the country to meet project deadlines at every phase. Working around and through underground utilities, historic tunnels, commuter train tunnels, and a 40-foot thick layer of native clay, Wang Engineering, A Terracon Company, navigated a complex subsurface to help rebuild Chicago’s Jane Byrne Interchange. Drilling more than 350 borings (to extract soil and bedrock samples from the ground below the interchange), working around the clock to meet noise ordinance and traffic requirements, and reviewing contractor design drawings at the request of the City of Chicago made our team a trusted, essential partner on this landmark project. Terracon is influencing the industry’s ability to grow the workforce to meet U.S. infrastructure demands in coming years through the selection of key leaders to serve. David Harwood, P.E., P.Eng., director of business transformation, was named to the President’s National Infrastructure Advisory Council (NIAC) Expanding Workforce Subcommittee.
