Street Talk understands Swedish private equity investor EQT Partners is closing in on Melbourne-born human resources business PageUp after tabling a non-binding bid in February. British PE investor Permira was also understood to have shown interest, although it is unclear if it submitted an offer. Sources close to the process said a deal could be signed as early as next week with expectations it could fetch as much as $1 billion. Its clientele stretches from government departments and universities to hospitals, retailers, builders and mining companies. Karen Cariss, who founded PageUp in 1997, chairs the board while ex-Dell Technologies CFO Mark Rice leads the management team as the chief executive.
