Defense Modernization Caucus aims to help military cut through red tape, acquiring emerging technologies and software
Summary
WASHINGTON — The new bipartisan "Congressional Defense Modernization Caucus" aims to prepare the military for tomorrow, especially when it comes to unmanned aviation and marine warfare. Rob Wittman (Virginia, 1st District) said he hopes to make it easier for the military to harness emerging technologies and software. "What happens right now is the acquisition process is lethargic, its complicated, it doesnt follow us being able to keep up with technology," he said Thursday in an interview with 13News Now. Co-founder Pat Ryan (D-NY) said in a news release: “When I returned home from Iraq, I co-founded a company that deployed cutting-edge analytics software to support our troops in harm’s way. We navigated the often-winding halls of DoD, working to find ways to break down barriers for innovative and disruptive technologies."
