WEA Member Benefits Financial Literacy Game for High School Students Wins 2020 EIFLE Game of the Year

Member Benefits’ original 2012 EIFLE award-winning game of the same name—Don’t Be Jack has been used as a resource to teach educators about the importance of financial literacy in their own lives, the power of compound interest, and the value of starting to save early for their future. Member Benefits worked in collaboration with local teachers and subject matter experts to create the student version of the game, based on Wisconsin’s Academic Standards for Personal Financial Literacy for grades 9-12. The team evaluated and reworked the game to make it more understandable and applicable to high school students, allowing students to work in teams to make decisions and learn and discuss different personal financial issues or situations they could encounter in life. “We are very honored to receive this award and are excited to be able share this game with our public school educators and their students,” said David Kijek, WEA Member Benefits President and CEO. The EIFLE Awards dinner is held each year during the Annual Conference on Financial Education.
