Software giant Microsoft ( MSFT ) late Wednesday beat Wall Streets sales and earnings targets for its fiscal first quarter.XThe Redmond, Wash.-based company earned $1.14 a share on sales of $29.1 billion in the quarter ended Sept. 30."We are off to a great start in fiscal 2019, a result of our innovation and the trust customers are placing in us to power their digital transformation," Chief Executive Satya Nadella said in a news release .Microsofts Productivity and Business Processes unit posted sales growth of 19% to $9.8 billion.The segment includes Windows software, Xbox video games, Surface computers and search advertising business.
