Edmonton—The United Conservatives are leading in the hotly contested Calgary battleground one week out from election day in Alberta, according to a poll released on Monday. Other polls have had somewhat similar results and many observers say the race could be a toss up, even if the UCP has a slight edge in vote intention. The survey also captured people’s views of the election debate between Smith and Notley, which aired last Thursday. “Regardless of what happens next Monday, I think what’s clear is that Alberta is pretty divided over their choices.” A random sample of panellists were invited to complete the survey. The margin of error for a comparable probability based random sample of the same size is +/- 2.6 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
