Its shipment calculations are certified and adhere to global standards.The company was founded by early Revolut employees David de Picciotto, now CEO, and Thomas Lucas, data science lead, as well as Freetrades cofounder and ex-CTO Andr\xe9 Mohamed. The trio chose to target logistics after looking for a high-emitting sector where they could have a big impact quickly, had readily-available data, and had an emissions calculations certification, de Picciotto said.Freight transport, warehouses, and ports account for 11% of global greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs), according to International Energy Agency statistics. Pledge adheres to the Global Logistics Emissions Council framework, the only globally-recognized methodology for calculating greenhouse gas emissions in the logistics supply chain.This also makes its reporting auditable, de Picciotto said.The company has been iterating its self-serve technology with customers for the past 18 to 20 months to find product-market fit, de Picciotto said. Currently a team of 20, Pledge will grow to 25 or 30 with roles in engineering and commercial.The round was led by Zinal Growth, with new investors Base Partners and Ace & Company joining.
