NI Acquires SET GmbH

NI (NASDAQ: NATI), an Austin, TX-based company providing software-connected systems, acquired Set GmbH, a Wangen, Germany-based company which specializes in aerospace and defense test system development and a recent innovator in power semiconductor reliability test. The amount of the deal was not disclosed. Together, the companies will accelerate semiconductor-to-transportation supply-chain convergence with power electronic materials such as silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitrite (GaN). Founded in 2001 by Frank Heidemann, Set is specialized in Hardware-in-the-loop (HiL), functional and power semiconductor test systems, and in the development of electronics for the aviation industry. The company employs approximately 100 people.
