Akoustis Technologies (NASDAQ: AKTS), a Huntersville, NC-based integrated device manufacturer of patented bulk acoustic wave high-band RF filters for mobile, acquired Grinding and Dicing Services, a US-based provider of back-end semiconductor supply chain services. The acquisition is expected to support a strategy to reshore its packaging of XBAW filters to the United States and to support its anticipated application for funding under the CHIPS and Science Act. Led by CEO Joe Collins, Grinding and Dicing Services delivers in-house back-end processing supply chain to support rapid prototyping of Akoustis XBAW RF filter chips. Led by CEO Jeff Shealy, Akoustis is a BAW RF filter solutions company in the materials science and MEMS wafer manufacturing fields to address the market requirements for improved RF filters, targeting bandwidth, operating frequencies and output power compared to legacy polycrystalline BAW technology. The company utilizes its proprietary and patented XBAW-manufacturing process to produce bulk acoustic wave RF filters for mobile and other wireless markets, which facilitate signal acquisition and accelerate band performance between the antenna and digital back end.
