Access Ransomware
Summary
Due to the military-grade cryptographic algorithm utilized by the threat, recovery of the impacted data without the proper decryption keys is considered to be practically impossible. Cybersecurity experts have confirmed that the threat is a variant from the STOP/DjvuRansomware family and, as such, it follows the typical behavior associated with this malware strain. In addition, the ransom note with instructions from Access Ransomwares operators will be delivered to the infected systems as a text file named _readme.txt. The attackers state that they want to be paid a ransom of $980, but victims who initiate contact within the first 72 hours will supposedly have to pay 50% less. However, users should keep in mind that any communication with cybercriminals is inherently risky and could lead to additional privacy or security issues.
