Meta defended the acquisition of Activision Blizzard in Brazil
Summary
Meta, the company Facebook and Instagram, but also the YouTubers of Meta Quest, has sided with Microsoft for the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, in front of the Brazilian antitrust authorities, which have raised more than a few doubts about this deal. Meta spoke about a market that is expanding and offering numerous possibilities for anybody interested in taking part in it, such as business models and access technologies. In short, the barriers to access the market are high and low, so only in recent years have they seen a lot of new competitors like Amazon Luna (2022), Netflix Games (2021), Google Stadia (2019), Apple Arcade (2019), Epic Games Store (2018), to name a few of the biggest names. Meta then indicated all the publishers capable of producing triple A titles, such as Bandai Namco, Capcom, Electronic Arts, Embracer Group, Sony, Valve, Ubisoft and others, which will not be limited by the acquisition, despite the competition. Despite the fact that Sony hasn’t achieved the halt to the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, it’s worried that it won’t be hard to operate if PlayStation loses its Call of Duty series, as admitted by Jim Ryan himself.
