Corintis obtains CHF 150’000 to cool chips

General News

Summary

The Ecublens-based startup is developing silicon-based microfluidic cooling solutions to enable 10x higher heat extraction from silicon chips. The startup has obtained fresh funds from Venture Kick to accelerate its growth.Corintis was founded in 2022 by Remco van Erp, Sam Harrison, and Prof. Elison Matioli, building upon decades of collective experience from EPFL and CERN to address the challenges of future high-performance chips. The ever-growing computing power enables everything from machine learning to cloud computing, but as chips become more powerful, they also produce more heat a chip today generates about 50 times more concentrated heat than a BBQ. Cooling down the heat limits chip performance and accounts for more than 30% of all data center electricity consumption, leaving an enormous environmental footprint. Corintis is currently establishing pilots with major industrial partners and will use the CHF 150,000 Venture Kick award to further accelerate the commercialization of its cooling technology.High-performance chips are the backbone of our digital infrastructure. We greatly appreciate the support from Venture Kick in helping us accelerate and grow as a company, said Remco van Erp, co-founder and CEO.
