Athletigen Technologies Raises US$1.55M in Seed Funding

Athletigen Technologies Inc., a Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada-based sports genetics company, raised US$1.55M in seed funding.The round was led by Exponential Partners, which joined existing strategic investors Dr. Ray Muzyka and Content Bloom.In conjunction with the financing, Exponential Partners’ Pat Wilkison will join Athletigen’s Board of Directors.Led by Jeremy Koenig, Ph.D., CEO, Athletigen is developing the Athletigen Performance Platform – a tool used by elite athletes and their coaches to improve performance through genetic analysis.The company has been working with Olympic coaches and athletes and recently partnered with Affymetrix (a developer of genotyping microarray technology) to enhance its expert informed proprietary DNA analysis, which analyzes 850,000 genetic variants that will inform human athletic performance research.
