Summary

Today, we continue to report on additional laws signed by Governor Gavin Newsom and taking effect before the end of 2022. Parents will either be thrilled or disappointed to hear that the 2022/2023 school year will have a later start time. As noted by the California Department of Industrial Relations, effective January 1, 2022 the minimum wage for employers with 26 or more employees increased to $15.00 per hour and the minimum wage for employers with 25 or fewer employees increased to $14.00 per hour. Assembly Bill 453 makes it unlawful to remove a condom during sex without verbal consent. Section 1708.5 of the California Civil Code was amended to add the act to the definition of sexual battery.
