Tata-owned Tejas Networks open to more acquisition and partnership

Speaking to Digitimes Asia recently, Sanjay Nayak, CEO and MD of Tejas, explained that the goal was to gain access to technologies that would enable the company to reach out to target customers. The company had recently acquired Saankhya Labs, a fabless semiconductor startup offering products for cellular wireless, broadcast radios, and satellite communication ground-terminal, which are deployed by customers in India and in international markets. "It will also enable us to boost our wireless product development efforts by gaining access to over 250 highly skilled R&D engineers having experience in system as well as chip design," Nayak said. "Besides deployments of next-generation radio products, 5G will also require a significant increase in cell-site fiberization and augmentation of optical backbone capacities to cater to the surge in mobile broadband traffic," Nayak said. "During last fiscal year, while we witnessed a strong demand for our products and solutions with 73 percent on-year increase in our order book, growth in annual revenues was relatively modest due to chip shortages," Nayak said.
