Summary
The term was originally used in the tech space to describe people who had to learn on the job because a degree didn’t exist for those careers at the time. Franchising - with its tried-and-true systems and operations ready to be implemented, is a way to lower the barrier to entry for business ownership. If they have heart, and if they’re willing to put in the hard work to build their own future, then success is just as attainable. In some ways, companies that encourage the “new collar worker” phenomenon are mini business schools, giving people the hands-on learning opportunities they need to succeed. Becoming an entrepreneur was my way to create a viable career (and future) for myself without a formal education.
