Carlisle will move city hall to former bank building; police department and library to grow

Carlisle Public Library will more than double in size when it moves from 135 School St. into the city-owned recreation center on Fifth Street in 2024 or 2025. Carlisle expects to spend $2.4 million to remodel the first floor of city hall to accommodate the police department, which is currently located on the buildings lower level. “We won’t be working on top of each other and we’ll actually have places to store stuff,” said Police Chief Matt Koch. We definitely lack that, especially with increasing caseloads.” The renovation will include an 890-square-foot addition that will create a secured entrance for transporting suspects. Carlisle plans several moves in the coming years to alleviate crowding at city offices.
