Engrade Raises $3M in Funding

Engrade, a Santa Monica, Calif.-based developer of online classroom management tools, has raised $3m in funding.The round was led by Rethink Education, with participation from NewSchools Venture Fund, and individual investors Greg Gunn, Zac Zeitlin, and Richard Chino.The company intends to use the capital to expand its academic and outreach teams as well as strengthening its suite of tools.Led by CEO Zach Posner and CTO Bri Holt, Engrade developed its online gradebook in 2003 as a solution to increase communication between teachers and students.Around it, the company has added a fully-integrated suite designed to unify the tools, data, assessments and curriculum educators need to enhance instruction for each child.
