Riot is changing Vanguard so players can enable it on demand instead of keeping it always running in the background. The new Vanguard Pre-Check mode relies on Windows security features and requires newer system settings, including Windows 11 25H2, Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, VBS, HVCI, and IOMMU. Riot says about 35% of players already meet the requirements and can switch with their next update. The move lowers the always-on footprint of the anti-cheat while keeping its kernel-level protection available during gameplay.
